I mean really feel Cashmere?

Soft and luxurious with an almost "Immoral" hand about it. Warm and supple, it has become the most noble of fibres, sought out by those who appreciate life's rare gems.

Named from the Kashmir region of India, today most of the worlds Cashmere comes from the high plateaus of China, Mongolia and Tibet. It's a strong light weight yarn obtained from the Cashmere goats underlying hairs below it's neck and upper chest. The part most shielded from the elements that result in very long and fine (usually 15 microns in diameter and finer) yarns with a high insulating factor.

The hair is sheared and the animal grease and course hairs are processed out leaving very long and extremely soft yarns that are woven into cloth used in the manufacturing of clothing and accessories like scarves, ties and hosiery.
Enough about it's characteristics, you can contact us if you require more technical information.

Let's enjoy wearing it to a cocktail party over some cool knitwear, corduroy or denim trousers and suede shoes.

With the beautiful colors that it dyes into we can orchestrate wonderful fall outfits in natural tones...

Let's not forget that it can easily become an influential business outfit as well.
Here, pair a beautiful flat front wool flannel trouser (Charcoal gray being the most versatile color) and a fabulous knit tie for a little more drama, emphasizing the power look intended. Wow!

Today, Cashmere can be found in the better manufacturers stable of fabrics world wide but not without it's premium. Usually, a Cashmere jacket would cost around the same price of that particular manufacturers upper end suits.

Dress Passionately!

OMERO’S Passion Spring 2011 Enough with the snow and cold already, I’m ready for some spring! Who’s with me? Our take on this springs fashions and image looks at the age old adage: FORM vs. FUNCTION FORM: A well executed garment, light weight and comfortable. Luxurious fabrics that are almost weightless, blended with Cashmere, Linen, Silk and cotton. Creative designs for a modern approach, featuring neat checks and some very cool stripes. Flawless silhouettes that is trimmer, skinnier and composed to flatter you. Look for this form in everything from suits and jackets to sportswear and shirts. FUNCTION: Walking into a room and “feeling” the eyes all over you. Your hearts racing, you’re a little anxious BUT you know you look good, you’re ready for what’s next and you TAKE CHARGE! Could be in the boardroom, courtroom, operating room or bedroom, doesn’t make any difference what room, the difference is YOU and how you look and feel. Amplify those emotions 10-fold for those only now, taking their first step to the next level of sophistication and personal performance. We’d like to look at it almost like Logic vs. Emotions. We decide emotionally and justify logically. We live EMOTIONALLY and hence our motto… DRESS PASSIONATELY!

OMERO’S Passion
Fall 2010

With fall finally here and the leaves turning, we’d like to share some thoughts for your wardrobe and ask:

What is the weakest link in men’s wardrobe?

It certainly has to be shoes! Even in casual wear a great pair of shoes speaks volumes about you and your image. The opposite is also true that a bad pair will have an adverse effect.
Here are some tips that may help you.

With Suits:
An updated, elegant laced-up Oxford and some dressier Monk straps are fabulous with suits. They should definitely be in some cool shades of Brown/Tan (not black) especially with those “Power” Navy and Charcoal suits. Suede Bluchers are becoming more popular now and pair nicely with suits

With Sport Coats:
Hip Loafers and Monk straps are easy, comfortable and match the relaxed attitude of fall jackets and trousers. You’ll also find exotics working well here too. Crocodile and Alligators albeit rare, add a certain element of sophistication and style while being very durable. A good pair of Crocs could easily last 20 years with proper care.

Some of us more seasoned (or older) remember the “Desert Boots” from back in the day and how cool they were with corduroys. Well, a few designers are bringing them back too. We’ve always maintained that fashion is cyclical.

In closing, then, it need not be said that your shoes should always be clean, polished and matched to your belt as closely as possible.

Contact us for more details that make a difference and remember…

DRESS PASSIONATELY!

"COOL EFFECT"

Fabric Innovations

"COOL EFFECT"

It's a hot August afternoon and the plans call for an outdoor business lunch. Their functional sleeve buttonholes but what function do they serve? They don’t improve fit, fabric drape or any other critical factor on the garment, they carry a hefty premium (usually $100.00 to $200.00) due to the added construction required and they have to be EXACT!!
Again, what function?
Their origin stems from “Bespoke” English dressing where a gentleman would never remove his jacket. When he washed his hands, he simply unbuttoned and rolled up his sleeves and proceeded while maintaining proper etiquette.
Referred to as “Surgeon” sleeves in American lore and for the same gentlemanly reason as above, the Doctor, never removing his jacket, would roll up his un-buttoned jacket sleeves, scrub down and operate…
That was then and being that times are different now, again I ask…
WHAT FUNCTION??
The function is PASSION!!
Clothing is not logical it’s emotional
No one would argue that when you look good, you perform better and that excellence is achieved in the details, right? This subtle detail, the functional sleeve buttonholes, usually worn with 1 or 2 buttons un-buttoned, separates the good from the great and is associated with only the finest Custom made clothing!
They give you an added edge of confidence and swagger and are worth the added investment.

On a personal note, my mother Adelma sewed by hand, buttonholes for Hickey Freeman from 1959 until, along with my father OMERO; they retired from there in 1979.

Today, only a very few of the better manufacturers around the world sew their buttonholes by hand, an art only the select few can actually perform…
Contact us for more details that make a difference.

DRESS PASSIONATELY!

Walter E. The relevance here is that he’s a very successful doctor who travels extensively, but is not all that fluent in the art of dressing and is becoming so, fast.

He was telling us about this recent trip to Palm Beach, Florida for a meeting with some “heavyweights” at this exclusive country club. As he approached the metal detector at the airport here, a security guard commented on how dapper he looked and passed him through the screening process quickly. This took him slightly by surprise but he certainly felt good about it!

As he walked into the dining room where his meeting was being held, the maitre d’ complimented him on his elegant suit and escorted him to the table where he was meeting his contingent. He mentioned how great his tie looked with the outfit, which brought a huge grin to his face and confidence to his demeanor. Imagine how he’s feeling and what’s going through his head now!

The attendees of the meeting also noticed his image and one of the women commented that her husband should dress like that. His confidence grew with every compliment, and needless to say the meeting was a huge success. He said he felt confident and conducted himself with the professionalism that was rooted in his elegant image.

The point, which we can all relate to, is that when you look good, you feel good, and those feelings come out. We’ve all looked into the mirror when we were dressed properly for whatever occasion and knew it! We look at ourselves and think “wow, that’s not bad at all”! We then proceed to flaunt it in an ever so subtle way that gets noticed.

The emotions of looking good cannot be measured, but the results of your endeavors can be, when you look good. You can certainly judge for yourself how good you look and feel in the right outfit, and those around you notice that little edge. Do you want to get noticed for the right reasons and the accompanying results?

It’s critical for each and every one of us to perform at a higher level than ever before and the right image is just the beginning…

DRESS PASSIONATELY!

Fall 2009 Sportswear with Passion!

A few clients have asked me to touch on sportswear for fall and I consider the request an honor. I will do my best to oblige!
As the weather turns so pleasant in these parts, the first thing we discuss should be outerwear.
Try the new "Storm System" outerwear with cloth woven in pure cashmere. Here luxury with function rules; Soft, cuddly Cashmere that repels water and is as warm as toast. They wear and feel like bathrobes and serve the insulated purpose. The length should hit just above your knees. You'll find Loro Piana & Zegna doing outstanding styles here and many collections will show the concept.
There are also innovative leathers being shown with nylon inserts that act as removable vests. There being done in brown and black and are either finger tip or hip length.
The distressed leather look is very popular now and merits your review. Although many lines of outerwear are showing this look, John Varvatos, Gimo's and Zegna seem to have the best handle.
When the overcoat comes off there could be new jacket that looks like a sport coat and act as sportswear. Some have the the nylon insert mentioned above, that double into vest variations.
Varvatos, Corneliani and Robert Graham are doing great looks in this area.
Sweaters of all styles; Cardigan, V-neck, Crew necks and zip-Polo's are being layered on sports shirts with open collars. The natural colors of Olive, tan and browns are very versatile with trousers in brushed cottons, corduroy and wool flannel. Cashmere and Merino wools, some blended with silk are happening here. The leaders in this arena are Gran Sasso, Luciano Barbera, Raffi and Zegna although many others do similar looks.
With regards to sport shirts there are a lot out there. The cool ones have contrasting fabrics inside the collars and cuffs, with some strong colors and patterns. Others feature a different colored thread on the buttonholes that's very modern.
These are cool worn outside of the trousers but their saying that they should be tucked in. Who they are is still a question to me but they tell the fashion story!
Robert Graham, Etro and Arnold Zimberg immediately come to mind here and in the more classic mode are Zegna, Luciano Barbera and others.
As always the ultimate look is accomplished in the details!
Accessories like hats, gloves, and scarfs not only wrap you in warmth and comfort, they also add a dimension to express your individuality.
Hosiery in fancy patterns, belt buckles with some interest and shoes in pebble grain leather or suede matched primarily in browns and tans are also essential to a well rounded look so don't overlook them.
You can find some of the items listed here at stores like Neiman Marcus and Bergdoff Goodman. You can also contact Jack at 216-831-0488. He's a long time friend and one of the most astute professional in this area I've ever known.
Remember...

DRESS PASSIONATELY!

Many of us recently saw the Presidential address on health care reform and some of us had the privilege of being involved with the “Cooking for a Cure” fundraiser for Prostate Cancer research and awareness.
There were two distinct characteristics in both events; one was men in power conveying their message to an audience and the second was the image they presented themselves in.
The President clad in a dark navy suit, a white shirt with a moderate collar spread and a red “Power” tie projected an image of authority and confidence while capturing the attention of the audience.
At the “Cooking for a Cure” fundraiser most of the men who addressed the audience were also dressed in dark suits with either white or blue shirts and most with “Power” ties. They also conveyed their message with confidence and authority and captured the attention of their respective audience. Unfortunately, there were those who took the dress code of “Business Casual” a little too far and they too were noticed.
If you attended what did your image say about you that night? Polished, understated and elegant or out of place, too flashy and indifferent? I noticed both and so did most in attendance.

Here, I’d like to offer you 5 ways to avoid making the wrong impression while in the public eye:

1) Never under dress; if the event is calling for business casual you can wear open collars or knitwear with suits and jackets while still maintain a “Powerful and sophisticated Look”. If you opt for the suit and tie hookup nobody will say you’re overdressed if they know what it’s all about!

2) Make sure you measure up on fit; Jackets should show a quarter inch or so of cuff. Look at the chest of the jacket and make sure there are no “canolis” or unsightly bulges. It makes you look like you’re wearing the wrong size or someone else’s garment.

3) Shoes should compliment the outfit. Lace-up’s for suits and cool loafers for jacket combos. Remember, sophistication asks for brown tones with navy and gray suits and sport combinations. Most important, they should be shined as it demonstrates attention to details and are noticed by the opposite sex.

4) Stay seasonal; in other words, put away the spring linens and light pastel colors after Labor Day in favor of more fall looks and fabrics. If you don’t you look like you don’t know what you are doing!

5) Demonstrate your individuality by accenting with eclectic pocket squares and fancy hosiery. Even when opting away from the tie, the pocket square adds a little dash and your hosiery while fancy in nature, betray a hint of interest and sexiness.

Remember…

DRESS PASSIONATELY!

OMERO'S PASSION NEWSLETTER FALL 2009

It’s September and time to think about fall. Here, we’d like to share a few ideas that will help you usher in the season with style.

We are seeing more men dressing up and loosing their business casual mentality. We also noticed the stock market starting to make a little comeback. Hmmm…

Although American men are starting to get it by pairing brown shoes and belts with “Power” navy and gray suits, many still prefer to go the classic route of black and cordovan. Stretch yourself, even courtroom attorneys convey an image of knowledge and authority while wearing brown shoes and belts with their suits. Are you?

Pleated trousers are being replaced with flat fronts but you men of substance can still benefit from the flattery of pleats. Sometimes, flat front trousers accentuate size and can create an un-balanced image for bigger men. Ask your professional for a little guidance here.

Suits worn with open collar shirts and knitwear demonstrate power and sophistication in those more relaxed environments and appeal to the opposite sex as successful and handsome. This look too is gaining in popularity and replacing that b.s. casual business attire long thought appropriate in the real world.

Want to add a dash of character? Fancy hosiery, a new approach to unique expression, can get noticed without minimizing the power image. Some are fun, others crazy but mostly offer a new means of expressing your individuality.

On a personal note, OMERO’S is proud to introduce our newest addition, Michael Rung. Over the last 35 years Mike has been helping men in the Cleveland/Akron area look, feel and perform their best by helping create the image conducive to their lifestyle.
